Blogger Interview – 10 Questions to Jenny Mustard from jennymustard.com

Jenny_Insta1. First of all, let’s talk about some facts: What’s your name, what’s your blog called and what is it about?

My name is Jenny Mustard, and I run the blog and YouTube channel with the Jenny Mustard. The blog and channel are all about the things I love: vegan food, fashion, travel, interior design, health, and all things minimalistic. I also write columns about this and that – my thoughts and what goes on in my life. I run the blog and YouTube channel with the help of my partner and boyfriend David, who of course also influence the content.

2. Why did you start your blog?

We used to run a clothing website called Mind the Mustard, where I modeled the clothes myself. Our followers started to encourage me to share more about my personal life so I started an instagram account, and things have just moved forward from there, resulting in my own YouTube channel and blog.

3. What is unique about your blog? What does it make different from other blogs?

I don’t think that this makes me unique, but perhaps at least unusual in the lifestyle blog category – I try not to only upload diary entries, but instead make sure every blog post has some proper content. I like all my post to be filled with inspiration, information, and atmosphere. I do enjoy reading diary-like lifestyle blogs too, but I’m aiming for really rich and rewarding content. Basically, I try to put some extra care and detail into my content. I might not always succeed, but it’s my hope anyway.

4. How much time do you invest in your blog each week?

I run my blog and YouTube channel full time. More than full time in fact, I usually spend about 100 hours a week creating content, and taking care of admin business.

5. What is your favorite blogger tool?

Of course a great camera is key. Personally, I love Canon. Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects are my favourite editing programs. I think instagram is amazing for increasing reach. And as a food blogger, you’ve got to have a great blender!

6. How many clicks do you have each day and how do you build your reach?

On the blog, we usually have between 2 000 – 3 000 views per day. On YouTube we get about 3 000 views per day, and then there’s instagram and facebook of course.
Our following is the result a few years social media presence. We’ve never paid to increase our reach, but instead always relied on word of mouth. Doing collaborations with other bloggers / youtubers has also been great for us.

7. How do you earn your money?

On sponsorships, as well as ads and banners on the blog and YouTube channel. We rely on the friendly collaborations we have with our sponsors.

8. When is a cooperation with commercial companies interesting for your blog?

We love working with companies who are passionate about their product and about the collaboration with us. We work with all types of companies, as long as their products are vegan and fairly produced.

9. Which blogs do you read on a regular basis?

Our Food Stories, This Rawsome Vegan Life, Zen Habits, Ems Designblogg

10. The most important tip for companies who want to do blogger cooperations?

In my opinion, working with bloggers or influencers is the most worth-your-while type of promotion you can get (speaking from my years as manager of a clothing website). You get comparatively affordable advertisement, to a relevantly targeted audience. So my tip would be to appreciate the bargain, and the work of the blogger in question. As far as I concerned, you’ll get the best results by selecting a few relevant blogs and pay properly for their work (you’ll get beautiful and influential content that way).
